Spring Break '09

So much to post, so little time. My parents, grandparents, sister (with family), and brother (with girlfriend) all came to visit us a couple of weeks ago. It was a non-stop party for an entire week.
We had a joint birthday party for my niece and O. We were too spent to make actual cakes, so we made them out of brownie bites from Costco. I know you're all thinking I'm a bad mom, but I did make him this cake on his actual birthday.

He loved and still loves his baseball toy from Grandma V.

I knew C would feel left out (translation: throw a complete tantrum) if she didn't get any presents so I got her a baby bottle at the dollar store and it did the trick.

C with that blessed baby bottle again.

It was Conference weekend so we spent a lot of time just lounging around. This is my mom. Hi Mom!

This is my dad and my niece Katelyn. Hi Dad and Katelyn!

This is my BIL David and my niece Elise.

We had an early Easter Egg Hunt for the kids. Here's Elise on the hunt.

Here's O doing what he does best - being cute and pantless.

Here's C getting very excited about the sucker in her Easter Egg - pantless (or is it pantsless).

The cousins at the Stockyards in Ft. Worth.

C and a little pony.

Grandma Vicki got matching pajamas for the grandkids. Here are the boys as Supermen.

Here are the girls as (wicked) princesses.

We took my brother Braton and his girlfriend Laura for a tour of Dallas before the rest of the family got here.
O wasn't so sure about riding the longhorn statue.

Braton and Laura seemed to like it though.

You know you live with a 2-year-old...

...when you find bread hanging from your kitchen cupboard.

Squirrel

B called me at work the other day in a panic because she was SURE she heard a squirrel trapped in our chimney and was terrified it would escape into the family room and go nuts (pun very intended). I told her there wasn't anything I could do at the moment, so she needed to take matters into her own hands. A few hours later, she emailed me this picture of her handiwork. Not sure this would have kept a rabid squirrel out, but B gets an A for effort.

Happy Birthday O!

Has it really been a year?! That went by way too fast. I can't believe my little O is one. Anyone who knows O knows he is the most laid-back, smiley, sweet, snuggly baby ever. Man, I just love this kid.

Happy Birthday Poppers!

Nap Time

There's not a lot of napping going on anymore :(

I think it's time to take the toys out.

An excerpt...

...from D's family letter this week:

"O is turning 1 next month, which means he's getting weaned. The only experience I've ever had with weaning is when Dad would wean the calves in Idaho and they and their moms would moo themselves hoarse. I'm expecting something similar with B and O."

I sure hope it doesn't go down that way, but it's a possiblity.
