O has arrived!

Well, after a day that seemed as long as the previous nine months combined, our baby boy was born yesterday at 5:05 pm. He's a little guy, just 5 lbs 13 oz and 19 inches long. The nurse who was weighing him initially called him, "Punkin," but then corrected herself and referred to him as "Peanut."

The labor and delivery went pretty well. B got induced at 8:30 am and had an epidural at 10:00. Almost immediately after getting the epidural, B got a spinal headache, which was pretty excrutiating. Fortunately they were able to give her some medicine to make her too groggy to remember all of the pain, since there really wasn't anything they could do to make it go away. Around 4:45 she started pushing, and after 5 pushes, out popped O!

As you can see from the pictures, he's clearly the cutest baby ever born. He looks a lot like C did, but with even wilder hair (though he was spared her double cowlick). I think he's going to be smart. I promise yesterday I taught him to say, "Go Cougars."

B is doing reasonably well, though she still has a bit of a headache. They're going to do some procedure called a blood patch if the headache doesn't go away on it's own. It's almost gone though, so she'll probably be alright and we should be home tomorrow afternoon. Come visit!

  1. Dallan! He is so cute! And so much hair. I cannot recall the pictures of Claire to remember that much hair, but he sure has a ton! I am also expecting a boy, we think. Another ultrasound on Friday should tell us for sure.

  4. Poor Bethany with her spinal headache. Sarah had one of those too and took some over the counter stuff to get rid of it, you might want to ask her. What a cute baby! So fun!

  10. I had a spinal headache with my last baby. I had a really hard time talking the doctors into the blood patch and finally found a lot of relief taking caffeine pills. I recommend NoDos.
